FaxTalk Player


The FaxTalk Player is used to play and record voice files in FaxTalk Messenger. You can open the Player by clicking on the FaxTalk Player button on the button bar, Selecting the File > Play command from the menu, or by double clicking on a voice file in the InBox or File Cabinet.

Playing a Message or Greeting
To play a message with the FaxTalk Player, select the
File > Open command. The File Open dialog will appear. Select the file you wish to play. If you have the Autoplay feature enabled under Play > AutoPlay, the message will begin automatic playback once the file is loaded. You can skip to the next or previous messages (if any) by selecting the previous or next buttons.

You can also open the FaxTalk Player using the File > Play command or by clicking on the FaxTalk Player button on the button bar. If a file was highlighted in the InBox or File Cabinet. The Player will open with the file selected.

Recording a Greeting
Choose the device from which you want to record (the selection will vary depending on your modem's capabilities) in the Record From: list box.

Choose the level of voice quality you'd like to record at from the Quality menu.

Press the Record button (button with red dot) or choose Play > Record. You can stop recording at any time by pressing the Stop button (button with square) or by choosing Play > Stop.

As you record the greeting, the position/length indicator moves within the bar showing your position within the message and displays the message length. This information is also displayed numerically above the slider bar.

To save the greeting you just recorded, choose File > Save.

Importing a .WAV file as a Greeting

To import a .WAV file for use as a greeting you need to select the File > Open command. Set the List Files of Type to .WAV and open the .WAV file you wish to import. Select the File > Save As command and set the List Files of Type to .VOX and enter a filename to save the greeting. It is a good idea to save the new greeting file to the User subdirectory for easy access from FaxTalk.

Deleting a Message or Greeting
If you wish to delete the message or greeting currently loaded in the FaxTalk Player simply hit the
Delete button on the Player or select the File > Delete command.

Saving a Message or Greeting
To save a message or greeting in the FaxTalk Player select the
File > Save As command. This will open the Save As dialog. Make sure the List Files of Type is set to .VOX and specify a filename and directory to save the file.
