Overview

About FaxTalk Plus for Windows
FaxTalk® Plus for Windows is designed to make sending and receiving faxes using your PC and a modem as easy as printing. FaxTalk Plus for Windows includes everything you need to send and receive faxes from Windows and Windows applications.

Using FaxTalk Plus for Windows
Using FaxTalk Plus, you can communicate at high speed with any Group 3 fax machine. As your needs and system continue to change, FaxTalk Plus lets you reconfigure your setup easily by using the Configure menu options. FaxTalk Plus has a comprehensive on-line help utility you can reference when you have questions about using FaxTalk Plus features or setting dialog box options.

Using FaxTalk Plus Menus, Window Icons and Buttons
You can use any of the FaxTalk Plus commands by clicking on a menu name to display its contents and selecting a command. FaxTalk Plus contains File, Edit, Modem, Configure, Window and Help menus. When a menu item is unavailable for a specific window or operation, it is grayed out or dimmed.

FaxTalk Plus allows for child windows to be accessible from the FaxTalk Plus for Windows program (parent) window.

For quick access to phone numbers or files created and stored in FaxTalk Plus, click on the InBox, OutBox, Transaction Log, Phonebook or File Cabinet icons at the bottom of the FaxTalk Plus program window. The associated child window opens.

You can use the buttons located on the button bar instead of pulling down a menu and selecting the command. The Button bar is hidden or displayed using the Configure > Show Button Bar command. You can select large or small buttons for the Button bar using the Configure > Use Large Buttons command.

FaxTalk Plus Status
To check on the status of your modem and any sending or receiving activity, refer to the status bar that runs along the bottom of the FaxTalk Plus window. The Status bar is hidden or displayed using the
Configure > Show Status Bar command.

Sending and Receiving Faxes
You can send virtually any file that you create in a Windows application as a fax. Sending faxes from Windows applications is as easy as printing. When you want to fax a document, simply specify FaxTalk Plus for Windows as the printer, and then issue the Print command.

FaxTalk Plus captures the file information and sends it in fax format to the selected recipient(s).

When a new fax is received you are immediately notified (if you have enabled the Flash Icon on Receive option and the FaxTalk Plus program icon is displayed on the desktop). Received faxes can be viewed on screen, or printed on any plain-paper laser or dot matrix printer supported by Windows. New faxes that are received are stored in the InBox. If you want to save the fax, the saved copy can be stored in the FaxTalk Plus File Cabinet.

Managing Fax Files
Files that are saved in FaxTalk Plus are stored in the File Cabinet unless otherwise specified. These files can be viewed, printed, or sent at a later time. When a file is faxed using FaxTalk Plus, it is converted to fax format. You can also convert files in fax format to a bitmap (PCX or BMP) format for use in other applications.
